Early College High School

Charlestown High School has earned CELL’s endorsement for a highly effective Early College program. The school is recognized for providing rigorous course offerings to give students a jump start on college credits with outstanding wrap-around supports.

Created in 2001, the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL) at the University of Indianapolis serves as a leading convener, catalyst, and collaborator for dynamic, innovative education to change to dramatically impact student achievement throughout Indiana. To be considered for this endorsement, Charlestown prepared a portfolio that addressed the eight required principles established by CELL including providing a rigorous curriculum, robust student supports, and completion data. In addition, a CELL team visited the school to interview administration, teachers, students, and parents about the Early College program and its benefits and challenges before designating the program as endorsed. Once a school receives endorsement, it is expected to further develop its opportunities and will be reviewed for re-endorsement every three years.
